Belt Rankings and their Meanings

White belt
White indicates that the student is "innocent", has no knowledge of Tae Kwon Do.

Yellow belt
Yellow indicates that the student is getting to know the basic techniques, this stadium is compared to a plant growing its roots.

Green belt
Green indicates that the student is growing as a Tae Kwon Do student. The color of the belt is being compared to a plant growing its leaves.

Blue belt
Blue indicates that the student is reaching higher, like a plant growing towards the sky.

Red belt
Red indicates Danger. The student is warned to practice the control of his / her movements. The color red also warns an opponent.

Black belt
Black is the opposite of white and shows maturity of the student in the art. It also is an indication of being impenetrable for fear and darkness.
There are nine Dans in the black belt ranking.
